Pre-Care Instructions for Optimal Cosmetic Tattoo Results
To achieve the best possible results, please follow these guidelines carefully. Proper preparation will help reduce bleeding and skin sensitivities during your procedure.
1. Skin Condition
- Your skin should be free from irritations like blemishes, eczema, and psoriasis.
2. Medications & Supplements
- Avoid Accutane: Do not take Accutane for at least 6 months before your cosmetic tattoo.
- Supplements to Avoid: Refrain from Fish Oil, Vitamin C, Glucosamine, and Evening Primrose Oil for one week before your appointment, as these can thin the blood and hinder pigment retention.
- Blood-Thinning Medications: Avoid blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Advil, Niacin, Voltaren, Indocid, prenatal vitamins, Vitamin E, and nutritional shakes 72 hours before your procedure (unless medically necessary). If needed, consult your doctor before discontinuing.
- Pain Relief: If you have low pain tolerance, Tylenol is allowed.
3. Skincare Products
- Discontinue Anti-Aging Products: Stop using products containing Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Vitamin A, or Retinol for 30 days before your appointment. These can impact skin layers and lead to patchy results.
- Resuming Skincare: Wait approximately 6 weeks post-procedure before returning to your usual skincare routine.
4. Cosmetic Treatments
- Avoid Skin Treatments: Do not have facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, or laser treatments for 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
- No Forehead Injections: Avoid any cosmetic injections in the forehead area for 2 weeks before your procedure.
5. Lifestyle Adjustments
- Exercise: Refrain from exercising on the day of your procedure.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid tanning or tanning beds for 2 weeks before your appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin can negatively impact pigment healing. If you arrive with sunburn, you may need to reschedule and could lose your deposit.
- Hair Removal: Do not tweeze, thread, wax, tint, or undergo electrolysis 1 week before the procedure.
6. Other Considerations
- Scars: Any scars from surgery or injuries must be fully healed for at least 1 year before your procedure.
- Alcohol and Caffeine: Avoid alcohol and caffeine (including coffee) for 24 hours before your procedure.
- Menstrual Cycle Sensitivity: Be aware that sensitivity may be heightened during your menstrual cycle.
Following these steps will help ensure a smoother process and better results for your cosmetic tattoo procedure.
